Welcome to Rimini, we will travel together through the territory discovering everything it can offer us.
We will talk about places and characters (the ghost of Azzurrina) sports, our cuisine and we will go to visit the best discos and pubs.Where does Rimini’s history begin?
Over 2000 years of history are testimonied by the art, architecture, museums. It was founded by the Romans with the name Ariminum in 268 B.C. and after this empire had fallen it was invaded by the Ostrogothics, Byzantines and Longobards. From the Medieval to the Renaissance period the court was ruled by the intelligent Malatestans, then by Church state, after by Napoleon, then by the United Italy, and now is a beautiful seaside town for holiday.
There are three very important and prestigious monuments that represent Rimini:
| Arco D'Augusto |
Ponte di Tiberio |
Tempio Malatestiano |
Tempio Malatestiano |
 |
 |
 |
 |
The fist two monuments was bolted by Romans in I° Sec. And are perfect like than.
The Malatestian Temple is an authentic jewel of the Italian renaissance thanks to Sigismondo Malatesta, who around the middle of th 15th Century decide to immortalized himself and his family’s glory.
He uncovered il Leon Battista Alberti, a famous architect, the genius who was able to transform those structures into the noblest canons of classicalism.
The inside was inspired by the same ambitious art project with the smaller details and decorations by Agostino Di Duccio and Matteo De’ Pasti, the ample spaces of arches, the deep chapels on the sides closed in with baluster marble harmony balanced.
Other particulars to be proud of are the Crucifix painted by Giotto, Piero della Francesca’s fresh painting, the burial chamber of Sigismondo and his Wife Isotta, the ancestor’s Arch and Vasari’s huge painting.
The recent restoration has brought back its antiques splendour.

There is no castle that exists without a mystery: Montebello also has its mysterious story which mingles with the magical and spooky Azzurrina, the ghost who haunts the castle.
A young ghost, really, whose adventures evoke in experts and curious a very attractive subject. Azzurrina is really the little Guendalina, daughter of Ugolinaccio Malatesta, who disappeared mysteriously in the castle caves on a mid summers night during a thunder storm in 1375.
One thundery night while Azzurrina was playing with her rag made ball, she threw it a little harder than usual and it feel into a cravice of the fortress, Azzurrina followed the ball and from that moment has never beenseen since.
It seems that the guards who had do to guard the child’s games paid for this circumstance with their lives.
Since than every fives years on a mid summer night the voice of Azzurrina can be heard from inside the castle and it would seem as if she wants to make contact with the outside world.
The professor Welleda Vilma Tiboni custodies the Montebello history, a friendly castle lover and precious guide for those who have the energy to climb the crag where the majestic caste sits.

The Adriatic sea is behind us, looking up towards the inland we can see the unconfoundable three Mountain crests belonging to the Titano mountain, the antique symbol of San Marino.San Marino land of Freedom.
The legend tells of the first community on the Titan Mountain that was founded in 301 A.C. by a stone cutter that came from Dalmazia to build the port of Rimini. Here result the first historical testimonials of a presence of a community way back in the medieval.
The Republic had to fight for a long period in order to maintain its freedom from those who admired to conquest it, because of its enviable strategic position.
The Republic of San Marino is completely a monument, a little medieval town that boasts monuments, museums, works of arts, tourist localities. On the Titano mountain’s top urges upwards three beautiful fortresses, connected with the walls and winding corridors in the suburbs underneath, closed in by a triple wall with various different doors, small fortresses and towers. Inside the boundary wall we can find the roads, town squares, the palaces, churches and the medieval houses built out of stone that still today maintain their austere and suggestive aspect of the past.
